On Thursday September 8th Geowise arranged an info event at the Meteorological Institute, about European Space Agency’s IAP upcoming new calls for tender.
ESA’s Integrated Application Promotion (IAP) program has been running for eight years (in two four years periods) and now to be continued with the third four-year period. The aim is to expand the IAP activities and provide better support for SMEs.
The objective of the program is to integrate space data into existing applications or systems, led by companies setting up commercial services where space data adds value.
This autumn, ESA is opening 5 new calls for tender with a 100% financing. The call topics are: Waste Management, Big Data in Human Migration, Automatic Tracking of Aircrafts (ADS-B), CBRNE, and Internet of Things (IoT). The first three calls for tender will open in late September (with deadline in early December), and the CBRNE and IoT calls will open end of November or early December.
Around 30 participated in the event, of which most of them young SMEs. Presentations introduced how to work with ESA, the 5 upcoming ITTs and hints how to write IAP proposals and what to take into account. Companies shared their summer experience from downloading Sentinel-2 data and applications carried out from the data. Finnish Meteorological Institute maintains a distribution channel FinHub of Sentinel data in Finland. The final speech was held by Tekes, who gave their recommendations and tips regarding the IAP proposals.
